Deodorizing
Odors can come from virtually anywhere. High humidity in this area of Virginia can lead to mold or mildew problems which, in turn, create odors and other problems. Dirty carpets, spills, pet stains, or any of a slew of other things can also lead to malodors in the home or office.
Fixing odor problems starts with identifying the source and removing it. That may require cleaning or it may require more drastic measures. Following that, preventative measures must be taken to keep the odors from returning.
Included with every deodorization is the following:
- Review of odors and their location along with listing potential causes
- Deep cleaning along with odor removal
- Application of odor prevention and counteractants
The most common odors encountered in the home or office are as follows:
- Mold or mildew
- High humidity (which is often mistaken as an odor)
- Pet odors (including urine or feces)
- Food or drink spills
- Dirty carpet
- Insect odors
Malodor counteractants are used to eliminate odors and prevent them from returning. Generally speaking, these will have a chemical reaction moving opposite the one causing the odor. This will mean eliminating urine or other ammonia compounds that may be present. Many also include germicidal ingredients to prevent bacteria or virus growth in textiles.
